Meet Avery

Happy young girl with copy space.

Meet Avery.

Avery came to Palmer Home last year all the way from South Carolina. She never knew her biological family, and through no fault of her own, her first adoption failed.

Avery’s gentle spirit was a sweet addition to her campus home, and she did especially well at school. However, our Whole Child assessments, which we provide to every child in our care, consistently revealed significant sensory processing issues. Avery was easily overwhelmed and exhibited high anxiety, likely due to the trauma she’d experienced in her past, and it was determined that being part of a small, permanent family unit was the best path for her.

Since reunification with Avery’s family wasn’t an option, we began vetting opportunities that would allow Avery to live in a small family unit. We partnered with an adoption agency and identified four potential families that could be a wonderful fit for Avery. Over the course of several months, it became clear which family was the best fit. Avery was officially adopted and able to finally have a forever home.

Your support is what enabled Palmer Home to take Avery in and ultimately, help her find a wonderful adoptive family. As a privately funded organization, we rely entirely on the generosity of individuals like you – not the government – to serve these children. Without your impact, we don’t know where Avery would be today.

Will you consider giving a gift today to help more children like Avery? Children who, through no fault of their own, need the help of Palmer Home. There are thousands of children just like her who don’t have a family to fall back on or anyone else to support them.

At this moment, there are several children in our care who came to Palmer Home through failed adoptions, and the list of referrals keep growing. In fact, the incidence of failed adoptions has been growing since COVID, and experts aren’t sure why. Palmer Home stands ready to help, but we need your support so we can open our doors to these children. Will you donate today so we can say ‘yes” to another child like Avery? They need our help, and we need yours.
