A Soul Generated By Love

February 6, 2017

“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

A soul generated by love…

While the children at Palmer Home arrive from various, sometimes terrible backgrounds, all of them have the ability to love, and in turn, have the ability to serve. One recent opportunity our campus had to serve the local community was Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

A group of young people from Palmer Home joined with over 20 service organizations from the Golden Triangle for the MLK Day National Day of Service. We had the opportunity to give back by helping pack over 1,000 bagged lunches for Loaves and Fishes, a soup kitchen here in Columbus.

It was a great experience to see our youth partnering with so many other service organizations in our area to give back a little of what we are so grateful to receive here at Palmer Home. Our children truly are blessed, and we are very thankful to have played a part in this day of service to our community.

Are you a soul generated by love? As Dr. King so eloquently states in this quote above, serving doesn’t require much more than a willing heart and genuine love for your fellow man. Maybe you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to come along side of an amazing organization and make a difference with your time and efforts. If that describes you, but you aren’t sure where to start – may I suggest Palmer Home?

There are so many ways to get involved and every effort made will impact generations to come for eternity.
