High Definition Salon and Spa owner Holly Davis, along with stylists Misty Rivera and Heather Howell, have cut hair for the children of Palmer Home’s Hernando campus for many years. When they opened High Definitions Salon and Spa in March of this year, they all knew they wanted to do even more to help the children.

“Everyone talked about it and Holly said, ‘Let’s go!’,” remembers Lori Stubbs, stylist at High Definitions.

During August, as parents wrapped up their back-to-school preparations, the salon offered $10 haircuts with all proceeds benefiting Palmer Home for Children. In addition, they asked all customers to consider making a donation.  “The stylists also donated their tips,” said Stubbs.

Early on the morning of the fundraiser, Palmer Home caregivers brought the campus’s school-aged children into the salon for free haircuts. For the children, the back-to-school cuts were not just a one-time event.

“Any time one of the children at Palmer Home needs a haircut, they are welcome to come here for free,” offered Stubbs.

Already Hernando campus caregivers have taken High Definition Salon and Spa up on its offer. When one of the young ladies was selected by her peers as a member of her high school’s homecoming court, High Definition donated time to make sure she looked her best for the big night.

In all, 25 customers, along with the stylists, donated $450 to Palmer Home from the salon’s one-day event.

We’re often asked by friends and business owners how they can help Palmer Home. Like Holly Davis and her stylists, the best way to help is to look at your own talents and abilities and use those as a way to give back.
