Palmer Home for Children Welcomes Valero Executive Felix Dornier to Our Board of Directors

Palmer Home for Children has appointed Felix Dornier, Director of Technical Services at Valero Energy Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee, to its Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Felix to our board,” says Karen Carlisle, Palmer Home Board Chair. “His leadership and diverse corporate experience will be a valuable addition to our team as we continually seek to enrich the standard of care we provide to vulnerable children and families.”

Founded in 1895, Palmer Home for Children serves children ages newborn through 24 years old regardless of race, gender, or background. In recent years, Valero has provided critical support for three programs on Palmer Home’s residential campus in Hernando:

• The Hope Works Program – a voluntary program on the Palmer Home campus that allows teens in Palmer Home’s care to earn money for their work. Through Hope Works, young men and women acquire life skills, gain work experience, and learn financial independence, all while planning for their future.
• The Cattle Program – Allows children to help care for a herd of cattle on the Palmer Home campus while learning the importance of time management, discipline, and how to responsibly care for an animal.
• Hope Grows Garden Program – Featuring raised garden beds, children learn from local volunteers and Palmer Home houseparents about how to plant, nurture, and cook the produce that they grow.
