And the Winner Is…

December 2, 2016

thank-you-1

The Egg Bowl has come and gone again, with the famed “Golden Egg” returning to Starkville with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.  Whether this brought great excitement or a bit of disappointment to your house, we have some wonderful news that EVERYONE can celebrate!

In the #PalmerBowl, the children of Palmer Home came away with a win, thanks to YOU!

This year, we had more response than ever before.  Throughout the month of November, our Palmer Partners TeleSouth Communications ran commercials, hosted guests, and discussed the amazing mission of Palmer Home on air across the state on the SuperTalk Mississippi radio networks.

On game day in Oxford, Jane Foster & friends at the Zebra Tent hosted a Palmer Bowl fundraiser before and during the game.  They encouraged fans of both teams to come by and donate, even just one dollar, to benefit Palmer Home for Children.  At the end of the day, their passion for Palmer Home was even more evident than their school spirit, and Jane’s husband Lantz recorded a video ringing a cowbell to thank their Bulldog friends for their generosity.  If you missed it, catch the whole thing here!

During halftime at the Egg Bowl (and all November home games at Ole Miss), we were able to share a short video about Palmer Home on the Jumbotron.  This fantastic opportunity was sponsored by Palmer Partners Edmondson Farm & SMP Southeast Marketing, who love to tell the story of Palmer Home for Children.

In our Text 2 Give campaign, Dawgs fans donated $465, but the Rebel fans bested them off the field with donations of $660, which meant a grand total of $1,125 donated via text message.  We also received over $200 in online donations.  To top it off, Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant made a generous donation of $500 towards the #PalmerBowl campaign.

In the end, thanks to an anonymous donor from Arkansas who donated $5,000 plus a matching gift opportunity, your impact was doubled!  At the end of the Egg Bowl, children in need proved to be your priority, with a grand total of $15,000 donated towards Making Lives Whole!

It’s been a wonderful #PalmerBowl, and we congratulate the MSU Bulldogs on their success on the field this Egg Bowl and are proud of the Ole Miss Rebels for a game well played.  But most of all, we’re thankful for these two amazing universities who support our mission, and for a state full of fans who believe in the importance of Rescuing and Restoring the lives of children in need.
