Give Thanks by Giving Back
Thanks to partners like you, dozens of children will spend this Thanksgiving in a safe, secure home, surrounded by family. I want you to know just how impactful your gifts to Palmer Home are by sharing one child’s story with you – how your gifts have provided Kyle hope and a home this holiday season.
Kyle is a teenager in our Transitional program, our care setting that equips young adults, ages 18-24, with the skills needed to live happy, healthy, and independent lives. Recognizing this critical time of life, Palmer Home’s transitional care ensures that no child ever “ages out” of foster care, forced to navigate life on their own when they turn 18.
Kyle’s situation is unique in that he did not progress to Transitional Care from one of our other care settings. In fact, he’s new to Palmer Home. When his mother was incarcerated, he was not taken in by his father and stepmother: they told him he was not welcome under their roof. This bright, hardworking young man was suddenly alone and homeless. Fortunately, Kyle’s youth director reached out to Palmer Home asking if there was anything we could do to help him.
Our staff acted quickly to move Kyle into our men’s transitional home. As with every new child, our team put together a plan to provide for his physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Kyle now has permanent housing, and a stable life within the safety of Palmer Home’s care and will enjoy continued guidance and support.
Your gifts made this possible. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
This Thanksgiving, as you gather with friends and family, think of Kyle and the many children like him at Palmer Home who are now in a loving, stable environment because of your generosity.
Will you join us in impacting more lives this year?
Sadly, there are many children like Kyle who need Palmer Home’s help and we need your support so that we can continue to welcome them with outstretched arms. No gift is too small: every dollar goes toward helping us say “yes” to a child in need like Kyle. Your support is his hope.
Wishing you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving,
