Southern Soirée Debuts Live Auction, Artist in Residence, and Champagne Chances

February 21, 2018

As winter wanes and spring approaches, event season is underway at Palmer Home for Children! It’s a particularly exciting time of year for friends of Palmer Home all over north Mississippi, as long-anticipated celebrations take place. On March 29th, from 6:30 to 10 p.m., the sixth annual Southern Soirée will debut new elements that are sure to make this the most dynamic year yet for this evening of cocktails, music, and old-fashioned Southern charm.

Like last year, attendees of the Southern Soirée will find themselves in the heart of Southern tradition at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. Situated just down the road from Old Waverly Mansion, the Golf Club brings the antebellum beauty of the mansion into the 21st century with gorgeous furnishings and architecture that pay homage to the mansion’s original design. The location’s proximity to Palmer Home’s Columbus campus makes Southern Soirée a favorite event of supporters in the Golden Triangle.

While the location alone is enough to make the evening special, it is only the beginning of what makes this a can’t-miss event. The entertainment for the evening includes the music of acclaimed pianist, Tommie Vaughn, who often lends his skills to Table 100 restaurant in Jackson, MS.  This year’s Southern Soirée will also feature a special performance by Palmer Home’s very own TrebleMakers children’s choir. But the celebration of the arts doesn’t end there! Artist Ali Brown Stayer will be in attendance, painting an original piece over the course of the evening. Stayer is a Mississippi artist best known for her coastal and southern landscapes. Once her painting is complete, the piece will be available for bidding during a live auction.

This auction introduces another new element to Southern Soirée.  The live auction will serve as an engaging accent to the traditional silent auction, which will also take place during the evening.  Guests will also love participating in a Champagne Chances raffle, in which purchasing a commemorative glass of champagne earns a chance to win a gorgeous 14k white gold Diamond by the Yard necklace valued at $975, donated by J. Parkerson Jewelers of Starkville.

For friends of Palmer Home, the sixth annual Southern Soirée provides an opportunity for a night steeped in great entertainment and southern charm.  Even better, the event offers the chance to support the restorative mission of Palmer Home for Children by attending and enjoying an evening filled with hope.

So gather your date, your friend group, or your family and make plans to attend this year’s Southern Soirée.  Tickets are available here.  To inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact us.
