Paying it Forward with The Big Payback

On May 3, Jonah’s Journey will join more than 750 Middle Tennessee nonprofits in a 24-hour giving campaign titled “The Big Payback”. In its fourth year, the event offers local nonprofits opportunities to share their platform in order to garner additional community support and donations.

“The Big Payback offers Jonah’s Journey a unique opportunity to increase awareness, raise financial support and participate with the local community all while we grow our brand in Middle Tennessee,” said Kellum Kim, Director of Marketing. “It’s a win-win, and we are grateful for the opportunity.”

Created by the The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the Big Payback aims to encourage people who can help to invest in the organizations that give back locally. The event will also help the people of Middle Tennessee understand the palpable, measurable, local return on investment from their support of participating local nonprofits.

In 2016, 11,270 donors raised $2.6 million dollars for charities in the forty counties served by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Donors can choose to support one or multiple organizations in donation amounts starting at only $10. We, of course, hope you’ll choose to give back to Jonah’s Journey. Donations will be accepted through The Big Payback’s website from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on May 3, 2017.

“Nonprofits do important, life-changing work every day across Middle Tennessee,” said Ellen Lehman, President of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “The Big Payback has become an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a community to support their efforts and recognize the positive impact they have on our neighbors. It’s an easy, fun and a meaningful way for us to show our local pride, give back, and make an enormous impact in the process.”

Gifts from the public during The Big Payback are boosted with funds from sponsors of the event, which provide multiple opportunities for Jonah’s Journey to vie for financial incentives and additional prizes. The real-time leaderboard hosted on TheBigPayback.org tracks donations and creates additional excitement surrounding the day.
