Golden Triangle Games
Supporters often ask us how they can help serve the children of Palmer Home. While we provide some ideas on our website, the creativity of our support base never ceases to amaze us. You don’t necessarily have to serve on the Palmer Home campus to make an impact. If you need some inspiration, simply start by doing the things you are passionate about and use them as a fundraiser!
For example, our friends at Steel Monkey CrossFit, Starkville CrossFit, Boardtown CrossFit, and TaylorMade Fitness love Crossfit and love to have Crossfit competitions. This weekend, Luke Strohl and Steel Monkey CrossFit will host the Golden Triangle Games where athletes from each gym will compete in a “CrossFit Open” style competition in both individual and team divisions.
Refreshments will be served, and both athletes and spectators are encouraged to join in the fun. Athletes will receive fun prizes depending on how well they do in the competition including shirts, recovery drinks, gift cards, etc. Steel Monkey will also be raffling away gift cards and different apparel to lucky winners in the crowd, and everyone, including the children at Palmer Home, will receive an event shirt.
The competition will be held February 20 at 9:00 am at Steel Monkey Cross Fit Gym, located at 454 Wilkins Wise Rd. in Columbus, MS. This is a members only competition, but the event is open to the public. If you want to compete or have any questions, contact Steel Monkey CrossFit at 662-242-1321. Also, be sure to check out their event page on Facebook. The registration fee is $25, and all proceeds will go to Palmer Home for Children!
If you have considered hosting an event to raise funds for Palmer Home, Luke suggests, “Find what interests you and use that as a vessel to reach out and help others. Don’t force it. That way you now have a motive/goal (helping others) and a drive to help you accomplish it (something you enjoy).”
If you have a great idea for a fundraiser, use the contact form on the website to let us know!
