Position Summary

The Children’s Programs Manager provides leadership and support across PHC’s children’s programs, including Campus Care, Foster Care, and Transitional Care. This role is responsible for guiding daily operations at the Hernando campus, supervising direct care staff, and ensuring each child receives holistic, trauma-informed care in alignment with PHC’s values and Model of Care.

Reporting to the Director of Children’s Programs, the Programs Manager ensures that children and staff are supported, safety is maintained, and each child has the opportunity to develop their God-given potential in a nurturing and stable environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support houseparents, case managers, office staff, and other assigned team members.
  • Provide and oversee initial and ongoing training for all direct care staff, including new hires and refresher courses in collaboration with Director of Training & Education.
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings and provide consistent communication and support to the team.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, trust, and accountability among staff.
  • Ensure all actions and decisions reflect PHC’s Christian values and trauma-informed approach.
  • Work with the Whole Child Initiative team to implement in-service training and maintain consistent care practices.
  • Partner with the Manager of Intake and Community Care to support successful child placement and ensure use of the Model of Care.
  • Participate in Whole Child Reviews to assess child well-being and next steps.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Children’s Programs on campus-wide and program-wide activities.
  • Ensure program alignment between Campus Care, Foster Care, and Transitional Care as needed.
  • Manage program budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility across all areas of oversight.
  • Monitor and improve office and reception processes to ensure safety, efficiency, and hospitality.
  • Maintain safety standards in coordination with Facilities & Operations, including property upkeep, maintenance checklists, and on-site support.
  • Oversee the Children’s Work Program, ensuring both practical campus needs and life-skill development for children are achieved.
  • Coordinate on-call schedules for case managers and staff, including weekend and crisis coverage.
  • Assign case management or staff support coverage as needed for PTO or absences.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Children’s Programs on staffing, operations, and child progress.
  • Collaborate with Director of Children’s Programs and Engagement Team on appropriate communication of program updates, both internally and externally as needed.
  • Ensure case management maintains monthly contact with contracted counselors and ensure accurate documentation in internal systems.
  • Communicate with the Wellness Team regarding family and volunteer visits or related needs.
  • Serve as a liaison across departments to ensure smooth collaboration and aligned care delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in child or family services, preferably in a residential or multi-program environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and child development.
  • Strong administrative, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Committed to PHC’s Christian mission and aligned with its Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to provide calm, consistent support in both routine and crisis situations.
  • A heart for service, growth, and nurturing relationships—with children, staff, and community members.
