A Season of Thanks

This season at Palmer Home, we have much to be thankful for. Every day our staff has the opportunity to witness miracles – parents working with us to turn their life around and reunifying with their children, young adults changing their trajectory and being the first in their family to attend college.

Behind every number is a real child, a real family, and a real story of life-changing transformation. Beyond these major milestones, there are much quieter, yet equally impactful moments happening each day at Palmer Home. A teenager receiving her very first birthday cake. A young boy getting his first professional haircut. Some of the recent milestones we’re celebrating this Thanksgiving:

  • Twenty of our campus care children visited Destin in October to go deep sea fishing as part of the Larry Hatchett Foundation’s annual fishing trip – some were able to see the ocean for the first time.
  • We are also praising God for the news that children are once again allowed to visit their incarcerated parents! This is a huge blessing for the moms we serve and their children, who’ve only been able to communicate via letters, pictures and phone calls since March 2020. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare to see each other face-to-face for the first time in 18 months.
  • A young woman in our program has been working very hard to graduate high school early in December (while also keeping a part-time job!) so she can start college in the spring. We are so proud of her and her amazing work ethic. Pray that she finishes high school strong and that all of the students in our program close out the semester successfully.
  • A handful of children are ready to transition into our Foster Care Program, but we need foster parents! If your family feels called to this missional opportunity, please reach out to us at rponds@palmerhome.org.

We cherish these opportunities to create meaningful moments in the lives of the children we care for, but we can’t do it alone.

As a privately-funded nonprofit institution, Palmer Home depends on the generous support of sponsors to continue our work of supporting children and families in need.. We ask that you would consider making a donation to Palmer Home in order to help us provide a safe and loving home to children in critical situations this holiday season.
