Tailgate for Palmer returns to Oxford

September 27, 2017

When Palmer Home began to consider hosting an event in the Oxford area, our thoughts immediately went to the excitement of tailgating in the Grove and the electric atmosphere of The University of Mississippi on game days.  Out of this spirit, Tailgate for Palmer was born.  In just a few weeks we will host our second annual Tailgate for Palmer, and we’re excited to say that plans for this event just keep getting better!

On October 7, Tailgate for Palmer will again take place in the Field Level Club of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, home of the Ole Miss football team.  Indoors, attendees will find a fantastic array of food and drinks, with catering provided by GRIT.  Palmer Home staff will be on hand to talk with guests, including President & CEO Drake Bassett, and this year’s event will feature a special performance from Palmer Home’s Treblemakers choir. Guests will also have access to Hollingsworth Field, where the Jumbotron will feature the evening’s SEC matchup and the sidelines will be converted into a deluxe tailgate environment to enjoy the game. For friends of Palmer Home in north Mississippi, this is a rare opportunity to experience tailgating in Oxford in a brand new way.

Tailgate for Palmer is made possible by presenting sponsor Security Card Services of Oxford, as well as a host of other wonderful sponsors who are invested in creating a dynamic atmosphere of food, fun, and football for all attendees. The event helps raise funds to enable Palmer Home for Children to continue serving children in need across the state of Mississippi.

Along with Tailgate for Palmer, the weekend’s festivities also include the Great 38 race, presented by Run Oxford and Ole Miss Athletics. This race honors the legacy of Chucky Mullins, an Ole Miss athlete who was paralyzed after a devastating football injury. The race benefits the Chucky Mullins Foundation.

“It’s great to see Oxford, and really all of north Mississippi, come together throughout this weekend to benefit these two worthy causes,” says Sarah Hollis, VP of Engagement at Palmer Home for Children. “We hope the community will participate in the weekend’s events and then join us for a fun evening at Tailgate for Palmer.”
