Palmer Home Names John Goudy 2022 Recipient of Charles Guest Service Award

February 11, 2022

Palmer Home celebrated John Goudy, Director of Operations/Facility, as the 2022 recipient of the Charles Guest Service Award. The Charles Guest Service Award recognizes a staff member for his or her contributions to Palmer Home for Children, mirroring the pursuit of excellence demonstrated by Palmer Home Board member Charles Guest.

“It’s exciting for me to see this person recognized this year because I think it takes into account the job we have to do and the mission we have to accomplish,” said Drake Bassett, President and CEO. “The exciting thing about working with John is that from early days of getting to know him and talking about the scope of the work that we do, he was very competent in his capabilities and very confident in what he could contribute to the organization, but the part I liked the most was that he quickly grasped how important our mission is in working with children, so connecting the dots between their responsibilities and how that will play out in the lives of children, that happened early. John cares about our children, cares about our mission, and thinks about how things work together and how that’s going to make a difference.”

John’s hard work and dedication to Palmer Home, to the children and families we serve, and to his colleagues is apparent. His integrity and Christian character allow him to lead and serve with compassion and humility, and his willingness to dig in and do the hard work of managing a large facility and day-to-day operations of a program that cares for dozens of individuals has not gone unnoticed.

“I can’t think of a better person to receive this award than John Goudy,” said Michele Everson, Office Manager. “Everything he does, he does with excellence. John has integrity about him, and his testimony is strong. He does a fantastic job of taking care of everything that needs to be done around here.”

“He has come into campus and changed up a lot of the things we do in a really good way,” said Jeremy Beavers, Director of Campus Care. “He’s very organized. He’s easy to talk to. All you have to do is give him a call or text and you know he’s going to do it. Our campus has been really refreshed since he’s been here, and it’s been really great to have him.”

Thank you, John, for serving us, our mission, and our family well. We are so grateful for you.
