TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL SHOOT FOR HOPE CLAYS TOURNAMENT BENEFITING PALMER HOME FOR CHILDREN

HERNANDO, Miss. – Tickets and sponsorships are available now for the annual Shoot for Hope clay shoot benefiting Palmer Home for Children, a Mississippi-based nonprofit devoted to providing critical resources for vulnerable children throughout the state.

“Shoot for Hope is the premier clays tournament of the Mid-South,” says Palmer Home President and CEO Drake Bassett. “This event provides a chance for our supporters to give back to our cause in a fun way, but it also provides an opportunity for them to see firsthand why the work that we do matters.”

This year’s event is sponsored by IMC Companies and will allow teams of four to compete for a multitude of prizes while shooting a variety of targets. Guests will also have a chance to enjoy a Southern-style lunch following the shoot prepared by master BBQ chef Malcom Reed and the HowtoBBQRight crew.

“One of our core values at IMC Companies is ‘Sharing the Success,’ and we are so proud to do this for children in our communities,” says co-owner Melinda George. “As a mom to four and grandmother to eight, I believe every child deserves a warm and loving home, and I know they get this at Palmer Home for Children. The Shoot for Hope Clays Tournament is one of the highlights of our year.”

Guests are invited to tour the Dr. Hugh Francis, Jr. Wellness Center, a new state-of-the-art facility opened in 2022 that serves as a home base for Palmer Home’s academic and clinical programs which provide children in need with educational and therapeutic resources. The space features an art therapy room, classrooms, counseling suites, gymnasium, large gathering space, and outdoor pool.

“When you have a chance to see just how much of an impact your support can have in the life of a child or young adult who needs to know they matter, who needs to know someone cares about them, it just makes the chance to give back that much more special,” says Bassett. “We invite sponsors and guests of this event to enjoy a chance to tour the wellness center and to see what a difference hope and healing can bring to those who need it most.”

Founded in 1895, Palmer Home for Children provides superior care to vulnerable children through four distinct care settings designed to serve the needs of a child at their point of admission and evolving as the child progresses:

  • Campus Care, where children live on the Palmer Home campus in a Christ-centered family atmosphere
  • Family Care, which serves infants and incarcerated mothers with the goal of reunification
  • Foster Care, where Palmer Home certified foster parents provide a loving family to children in need
  • Transitional Care, which helps young men and women ages 18 to 24 years old navigate adulthood, learn life skills, and lead healthy, independent lives

The organization serves each child through its proprietary Whole Child Initiative, a trauma informed, holistic, and relationally centered model of care that seeks to address each child’s educational, social, physical, spiritual, and mental needs through academic support, counseling, and other resources. By helping children overcome their trauma, they are better equipped to thrive at home, in school, and in the community.
