Position Summary
The Clinical Specialist is responsible for assisting in the delivery and implementation of child-related counseling, psycho-educational, and therapeutic services for all direct care service lines. The Clinical Specialist is expected to work fully within the philosophy, goals, and operating procedures of Palmer Home for Children, demonstrating exemplary Christian character, administrative competency, and human relations skills.
Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the counseling, psycho-educational and clinical services for all direct care service lines in order to ensure that children in care have every opportunity to work through any emotional and mental health needs so that they can more fully develop their God-given gifts and talents.
- Implement and coordinate clinical in-service trainings for staff.
- Monitor, assess, and manage the provision of counseling services, which are to include but are not limited to ensuring that each child is receiving appropriate services for their individualized needs.
- Maintain regular communication/staffing with all service line Directors
- Maintain appropriate and confidential clinical documentation in case records
- In cooperation with the Vice President of Children’s Services and Program Directors give clinical recommendations for any placement of Palmer youth in other facilities and determine when a referral to an outside provider or specialist might be beneficial for the child.
- Review clinical records and give clinical assessments at intake, on an as needed basis
- Meet with children and families as needed in order to provide counseling assessments and recommendations
- Coordinate counseling programs at the Wellness Center which may include but are not limited to individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and psycho-educational groups for staff and children.
- Create and maintain a productive and cooperative working environment based upon accountability and mutual respect.
Qualifications
- License required: LPC, LMFT, LCSW
- Master’s Degree
- Previous work experience with children in an inpatient/ outpatient setting or in an educational setting.
- Knowledgeable of and willing to work alongside local social services, agencies and programs with which Palmer Home must frequently interact in order to provide additional services to our children.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be qualified, capable, and willing to serve as a role model and mentor to children in care in accordance with Palmer’s core mission.
- Must have demonstrated skills in program administration, communications, counseling, and human relations.
- Must be in agreement with the Palmer Home for Children Statement of Christian Beliefs and demonstrate a strong commitment to Christ consistent with the mission of Palmer Home status as a non-profit religious organization.
