Palmer Home wishes to provide for our children a stable and loving environment. We desire to nourish them spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, as well as care for their physical needs. The goal of the sponsorship program is to introduce a child to the dynamics of a Christ-honoring family, something most have never experienced.
A personal sponsor spends quality time with a child, whether a few hours, a weekend, or inclusion in holiday and vacation plans.
Application
A sponsorship application must be completed and returned for processing. All sponsors will be carefully considered for approval by Palmer Home administration. Not all applications are approved. Existing sponsoring relationships will be periodically evaluated and Palmer Home reserves the right to terminate sponsorship should it be deemed necessary for the well-being of the child.
Visits
Once a sponsorship is established, visits may be arranged in advance with the houseparents. The first visit usually takes place on campus. Subsequent visits are allowed off campus as approved by the houseparents and/or the administration. Sponsors are encouraged to interact on a monthly basis.
It is important for sponsors to support and enhance the values Palmer Home seeks to instill. Sponsors are expected to include a visiting child in church attendance, to model healthy habits by abstaining from smoking and drinking during visits, and exercising sensitivity in selecting appropriate movies, videos, or entertainment.
Through the years, sponsors have been a great blessing to Palmer Home and many have developed a mutually beneficial relationship with a child, some even maintaining contact into adulthood. In cases where a child may leave Palmer, either to be reunited with family, or placed in foster care, the sponsor will be given advance notice as to that possibility.
